Again there is a misleading mouthwash advertisement on TV. It showed a man rinsing his mouth with Listerine mouthwash but omitted the part where he is supposed to spit the content out. This is very dangerous as small kids and children would tend to mimic especially when they brush their teeth in the bathroom where mouthwash is within easy reach. Upon inadvertent ingestion, it would result in Florine poisoning and possibly death. Some mistook the accidental death to alcohol ingestion of which is partly true due to the relatively high content in some mouthwash. Most kids would not tell their parent for fear of punishment and this will further compound the problem of diagnosis.
Although it is the parent responsibility to guide the kid but then again is there a proper advertisement watchdog out there to monitor misleading medical product advertisement? I have written a letter to the Ministry of Health and I believe they would probably do something about it since some good citizen will highlight the problem to them.
I am not sure what is the continual motivation or who motivated this series of mouthwash advertisement that “omitted” the important process sequence. There are demented and powerful people out there.
