My mother-in-law’s eventual above-the-knee amputation in late 2006 started rather innocuously in 2004 when my wife noticed that one of her toe was blackened during a visit to her place. Both thought nothing of it. Neither did I.

Still back to my favourite topic, on isotonic (electrolyte) balance. I think most people who drink or rather binge on alcohol, especially in jugs of beer would again be in danger of brain edema (swelling) and even unwittingly exacerbate alcohol retention leading to drink-driving deaths.

Sometimes I do think about the darnest thing. Yesterday, I was wondering why quite a number of women are plagued by varicose veins and after some deliberations, I came to the conclusion that it was probably a cauldron mix of diet but most importantly their posture when sitting or worst still squatting.
